Higher AI Exposure, Fewer Adjacent Moves

Exposure alone does not show how easily workers could move to related work. Of 228 occupations ranked 60/100 or higher, these 57 have the lowest relative transition matches: their best exposure-reducing transition falls in the bottom quarter of exit scores within the higher-exposure cohort (≤66% match). For high-exposure occupations with strong escape routes, see Best Transitions.

Frequently asked questions

Why do exit paths matter alongside an AI Exposure Rank?

Occupations with similar AI Exposure Ranks can have different outcomes because demand, transferable skills, training access and viable destination jobs differ. The transition layer is contextual, not a probability of successful reallocation.

What counts as "few exits"?

An occupation lands here when its single best exposure-reducing transition falls in the weakest quarter of exit scores among occupations ranked 60/100 or higher. Lateral or higher-exposure moves do not count as exits. The transition score combines archetype similarity, skill overlap, wage preservation, demand strength, and exposure-rank reduction.
